7 ways to enjoy spring in A Coruña

Spring in A Coruña

In March days were longer, the city started to smell like flowers and the sun decided not to hide for so long. The month was, definitely, the presentation of the spring, a season that completely transforms A Coruña.

Right now parks and gardens of the city have recovered their splendor and are full of tweeting and colorful flowers, making A Coruña more beautiful for those who visit it. If this year you have the opportunity to discover us, here are some of our favourite plans for the season.

1. A spring to spend at bar terrace...

People of A Coruña are used to enjoying a walk or a drink even if it is rainy or stormy. So, as soon as warmer months are getting closer, the days to go out will keep on soaring.

A sunny day is enough to find all the city terraces full. From Vigo square to La Marina, through José Sellier or María Pita squares, youngsters and elderly people gather together for a coffee or a beer.

And yet, it is common to see hustle and bustle on the streets in the morning coming out from the different places where to have a magnificent breakfast or a spectacular brunch.

1.2 ... and taste an ice-cream

The more the temperatures rise, the more we crave for ice-creams and there is nothing better than savouring one in La Marina. Feeling like an authentic A Coruña citizen taking a walk by the seaside and tasting a sweet from one of the six main ice-cream parlours of the city: Colón, La IBI, Puerta Real, Bico de Xeado, Rafa Gelato or Farggi.

2. Stroll by the port beyond La Marina

A great plan for this spring is discovering the port beyond La Marina. Once you leave behind the crystal galleries, keep going until you reach the dock harbour entering by Ourense square. It's the best place to get another perspective of the port and find out one of the newest A Coruña walking areas.

3. Enjoy the nature in San Pedro's mount

There is no better place to enjoy spring air than diving completely into nature. And few spots of A Coruña are so great for this like San Pedro's mount.

When the clouds go away, visiting our viewpoint is a must. Relax yourself watching the Atlantic with a panoramic view that runs the coastline until Arteixo and Sisargas Islands on one side and Costa Ártabra and A Coruña's estuary on the other one.

4. Discover the magic of the Tower of Hercules' Sculpture Park

The Tower of Hercules' Sculpture Park is a dreamy landscape where art and nature merge with the artistic pieces hidden among birds, bushes and flowers.

5. Go all over the city by bicycle

Other ideal plan for this season is discovering the city by bicycle riding along our 50 kilometres cycle lane. And the best is that you don't need your own bike because you can get the BiciCoruña ones or rent it from private companies.

6. Kick off the beach season

For the most adventurous ones, season beach starts sooner in A Coruña. If the temperatures allow it, go for the first dip in the sea of the year. You can choose among As Lapas, Matadero, San Amaro, Orzán or Riazor, although this last one has loyal swimmers throughout all the year.

7. Enjoy a picnic with the sunset on the background

A Coruña has got parks and gardens which are perfect to enjoy a picnic with your family, partner or alone. Santa Margarita or Eirís parks are amazing options, like any urban beach with stunning views on the horizon.
