This is the first time that this scientific event, the most important in the Spanish-speaking world in the field of diabetes, has been held in the city
A Coruña today hosted the first day of the 36th National Diabetes Congress, bringing together some 1,500 professionals in the city under the slogan "Diabetes connects us, exchanging experiences". This is the first time that A Coruña has hosted this scientific event, the most important in the Spanish-speaking world in the field of diabetes.
Researchers, doctors, nursing professionals, educators and psychologists will participate from today until Friday 25th in the different conferences and workshops that will be held at the PALEXCO facilities, although there will also be parallel activities on the 26th. In addition, on this occasion, patients will have access to a round table and outdoor activities during the morning.
The 36th National Diabetes Congress will focus on the main challenges and advances in the management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as its complications; but it will also address new therapeutic targets, pancreas regeneration, barriers in insulin therapy or the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in diabetes, among others.
The scientific content is organised into three different tracks (scientific, clinical-training and psychoeducational) with round tables, oral communication sessions and meetings with experts. There will also be a networking area and pre- and post-congress courses.
A Coruña, a benchmark city in MICE tourism
The city continues to lead in terms of convention, meeting and congress tourism, better known as MICE. Since 2019, Inés Rey's government has been committed to promoting this type of tourism, hosting national congresses and forums such as this one in the city. Over the coming months, there are also several congresses scheduled, such as the Spanish Society of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine (SERMEF), the National Congress of the Spanish Epilepsy Society, Ecosystems and Digital Worlds
