Bioculture Fair

Biocultura reinforces A Coruña's position as a "benchmark for sustainable tourism"

"This is the leading European trade fair for organic production, the environment, quality of life and responsible consumption", said Juan Ignacio Borrego.

The fourth edition of Biocultura, an ecotourism and organic products fair inaugurated today at EXPOCoruña, reinforces A Coruña's position as a "benchmark in sustainable tourism". This is what the Councillor for Tourism and President of the Consortium of Tourism and Congresses of A Coruña, Juan Ignacio Borrego, said at the opening ceremony, which was attended by many people on this first day, in a space that brings together more than 120 exhibitors. The fair, which has the support of A Coruña City Council through the city's Tourism and Congress Consortium, will take place this weekend, until Sunday, with exhibitors for food, aesthetics, ecotourism, crafts, wellness and sustainable fashion. More than 11,000 visitors are expected. Inés Rey's government is committed to sustainability, digitalisation, culture and MICE tourism as fundamental pillars of the city's tourism strategy, as the mayor recently confirmed at Fitur.

"We collaborate with great honour as the host city of a benchmark event in sustainable tourism, with this annual fair, which is already showing the city's commitment to sustainability", commented Borrego, who added that it is the main European fair in this field "in ecological production, the environment, quality of life and responsible consumption".

In a tour of the exhibitors of the products that form part of the Mariñas Coruñesas and Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve, Borrego said that Tourism A Coruña promotes the products of the Biosphere Reserve. "And we will continue along this path. Biocultura is a magnificent showcase to highlight the value of top quality products, the value of what is close to us", said Borrego, accompanied by the manager of the Consortium of Tourism and Congresses of A Coruña, Moisés Jorge Naranjo, and other authorities. Borrego cited the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan, which is already underway.

During the days of Biocultura there will be more than 120 activities at EXPOCoruña, such as 'showcookings' or the Mamaterra space, aimed at children. Chefs and organic producers will give presentations and tastings. There will also be space for "eco-aesthetics", with training sessions and workshops. Within the framework of Biocultura, the Northwest International Yoga Festival will take place, among other activities.
