This is the first time that A Coruña has had a regular airline with the Italian city
From Tuesday 28th March, A Coruña expands its map of international air connections, adding Milan-Malpensa to the European destinations already available from Alvedro airport, which also include the cities of Geneva (Switzerland) and London (United Kingdom). As in the case of Geneva -a recently inaugurated connection-, the Milan-Malpensa route is operated by the easyJet airline. There are two weekly frequencies from Alvedro to the Italian city, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, throughout the year.
The first flight from Milan-Malpensa airport arrived at Alvedro on Tuesday 28th at 16.30 hours. The return flight to Italy was at 17.45 hours, on aircraft EJU3774. With a traffic flow of approximately 29,000,000 passengers per year, Milan-Malpensa is the second most important airport in Italy, after Rome-Fiumicino.
In this way, the City Council reinforces the role of the city as a tourist destination, but also expands the map of destinations available to the people of A Coruña with the international connections offered by the Italian city. In this sense, the Mayoress, Inés Rey, stressed that the new connection with Milan, as well as the one recently opened with Geneva, "shows the commitment of the municipal government to enhance the tourist value of A Coruña through key infrastructures for the city, such as Alvedro airport".
The councillor also recalled that this is the first time that A Coruña has had a regular air connection with the city of Milan.
The connection with Amsterdam, planned for the second half of 2023
With the addition of Milan to the range of destinations available from Alvedro, A Coruña increases its international connections, all of them in Europe. The forecast of Inés Rey's government is to add a new route to Amsterdam-Schiphol airport in the second half of the year, which will also be operated by easyJet. The connection with Amsterdam will be activated once the shortage of slots currently available at the Dutch airport, the most important in the Netherlands, has been resolved.
