Climate and seasons

Imagen

We tell you a little more about our climate, which makes our land so beautiful, wild and unique. This way you can choose the best time to visit us according to your tastes:

SPRING

Here Spring is very lively, as nature bursts into life everywhere and we immediately start to see the trees full of leaves and flowers. The days become longer and brighter, the terraces are full of bustle, and you can feel that we're already looking forward to summer. Of course, during these months you can experience any kind of weather: cold, heat, rain... as the saying goes: "ata o corenta de maio non quites o saio" (don't take off your frock until the 40th of May), which means that you'd better dress warm.

The average temperature is around 16ºC.

SUMMER

The heat sets in, but it's milder than in other parts of the country. The influence of the Atlantic is noticeable. Here, we have the privilege of enjoying the sun during the day without stifling temperatures, which also allows you to sleep without a problem.

The streets and beaches are full of people eager to enjoy the outdoors, practice water sports, watch sunsets... by the way, did you know that A Coruña is one of the cities where the sun sets the latest? Also, the summer festivals begin, such as San Juan and the María Pita festivals. Everyone wants to have a good time.

But remember that the temperature of the sea is chilly.

Temperatures range from 22ºC to 24ºC.

AUTUMN

Summer is getting longer and longer every year, but when the days get shorter, the colours of the landscape change and we notice coolness in the air, we know that autumn has arrived. The rain starts to roll in, but the temperatures, although low, are mild and bearable.

It is a perfect time to enjoy a getaway without so many people, to stroll through our parks with that special light and colour that only autumn brings, or to try our seasonal autumn cuisine in gastronomy festivals such as the Boucatisse and the Picadillo Tapas Competition.

The average temperature is around 15ºC.

WINTER

Yes, winter in A Coruña makes its presence felt, although it's getting milder. But what good is a visit without feeling the rain? It's part of our identity. The landscape and colours are transformed. The ocean becomes rougher and rougher, which is a real sight to behold (but enjoy these sights from a distance and with a lot of caution).

Temperatures drop and you will notice the humidity. But with an umbrella and warm clothes, it's a magical time for a getaway. You can enjoy indoor events, such as the theatre season and concerts from the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, and you can have a good chocolate with churros... there's no lack of options.

The average temperature is around 11ºC.
