Practical information I'm travelling to A Coruña with my pet. What do I need to know?

If your travel plans include sightseeing with your pet, but you want to make sure ahead of time that your friend will have everything they need, we'll give you a hand.

How to get around the city with a pet

A Coruña is a small but vibrant city, where tourist attractions are just a short walk away. We recommend is that whenever you can you opt for a walk, whether through the historic streets, the Ensanche district or along A Coruña's seaside promenade, the longest in Europe. These are all options you can do with your pet.

But walking isn't always the solution. If you need to, you can use public transport with your four-legged friend. There are two main taxi services in the city. Both TeleTaxi and RadioTaxi allow pets in their vehicles. It's simply necessary to give prior notice, as not all of their cars are adapted to allow animals to travel safely.

In the case of the city bus company, Compañía de Tranvías de A Coruña, pets can travel as long as they are in a waterproof and completely enclosed carrier. If you have an IATA carrier, you can't go wrong, although it doesn't have to be certified. Once inside the bus, your furry friend must go under the seat you sit in. Of course, these rules do not apply to guide dogs or assistance animals, which are always welcome on public transport.

Veterinary assistance

In case your pet should need to see a vet, there are many veterinary clinics in A Coruña. Almost forty centres specialise in treating pets, and they are spread all throughout the city's neighbourhoods.
